Sultana Projects presents:
Tall Ship and Wooden Boat Festival
October 26-27-28, 2012
The Downrigging Weekend is a premier event in the Chesapeake Bay, dating back to the end of the sailing season of the schooner Sultana and now serves as a celebration of maritime culture and history in Northeast. Festivities center around one of America’s best preserved historic seaports: our harbor is packed with tall ships, wooden boats, and schooners. Have you ever dreamed of sailing on a Tall Ship? Now’s your chance to register for one of three sailing opportunities down the Chester River. Tours of the Tall Ships are available as well.
The weekend schedule is packed with fireworks, lectures by author Mark Kurlansky and film maker David Conover, family boat building, musical performances by The Lions of Bluegrass, Tim Erickson, Pam Ortiz & Friends, and God’s Wealth. Most of the events will take place in a 2 block area of Chestertown Waterfront – so there will be plenty of great places to take a break and have a bite to eat.
Make plans now to enjoy one or both of these special weekends, and book your stay at one of our Maryland Bed and Breakfast Association member inns located in or near Chestertown. They can give you special tips on where to park, and how to make the most of your October visit to Chestertown!
